William Franklin Hawks, Sr

Mr. William Franklin Hawks, Sr., age 75 of Sandy Ridge, husband of Marie Boyd Hawks, passed away Tuesday, November 07, 2006 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Hawks was born in Surry County, April 13, 1931 to Etta Goins Hawks and the late Fred Monroe Hawks. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and was a retired painter. Surviving are his loving wife, Marie Boyd Hawks of the home; four daughters and a son-in-law, Peeble Sue Hawks of Galax, VA; Teresa and David Simpson of Galax, VA; Kay Griggs also of Galax, VA; Lisa and L. P. Shelton of Mt. Airy; sons and daughter-in-law, Frank Hawks of Mt. Airy; Willie Hawks, of Asheboro; Mike and Regina Hawks of Sandy Ridge; Joseph Hawks of Mt. Airy; Friel Hawks of Yanceyville; Donnie and Angie Hawks of Mt. Airy; a special adopted son, Aaron Monroe Hawks of the home; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; his mother, Etta Goins Hawks of Mt. Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Tish and Jack Arrington of Mt. Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Susan Hawks of Lewisville. In addition to his father, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by a son, Homer Troy Hawks; sisters, Jenny Morris and Bertha Hardy and brothers, Fred Hawks, Jr. and Homer Eugene Hawks. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 9, 2006 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Bro. Don Collins. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
