William John Haynes

Mr. William John Haynes, 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. William was born June 8, 1931, in Surry County, to the late William Edgar and Lydia Kate Blue Haynes. He was of the Quaker faith. William was a retired farmer and owner and operator of William Haynes Floor Covering. "William was a simple man and enjoyed the simple things in life. A lover of nature and sitting under the maple tree in his back yard. Nothing pleased William more than spending time with his girls, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, William was truly a family man." He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lillie Mae Bond Haynes of the home; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie and Roger Combs and Lilnette and Jim Phillips, all of Mount Airy, and Ginger Stillman of Randolph, NJ; grandchildren, William Darrell Sisk and Jonathan Adrian "Jon" Sisk, both of Pinnacle, William Arthur "Bill" Stillman and John Alexander "Alex" Stillman, both of Randolph, NJ, Jennifer Lee Stillman of Raleigh, James Paul "Bo" Phillips, Emilie Maegan Phillips, and Matthew William Phillips, all of Mount Airy; great-grandchildren, William Darrell "Will" Sisk and Kristen Lydia Sisk, both of Pinnacle; brothers and sisters-in-law, Archie and Norma Haynes and Don and Lien Haynes, all of Mount Airy; sisters and brothers-in-law, Agnes Chilton of Mount Airy, Iris Hodge of Woodbridge VA, Betty and Golly Easter of Blairsville, GA, and Catherine and Buddy Creed of Lowgap. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Haynes; and a sister, Ann Cave. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd and the Rev. Frank Danley officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 18, 2009, from 12:30 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
