Mr. William Richard Hiatt, 69, of Danbury, passed away early Sunday morning, July 31, 2016, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mr. Hiatt was born January 30, 1947, in Carroll County, VA, the son of the late Thomas Edgar and Sallie Ann Gwyn Hiatt. Richard was a self-employed wood cutter for many years. He is survived by three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Luella and Paul Henry White of Danbury, Daffer “Dorothy” Fulp of Walnut Cove, Carol and William Tilley of King, and Imogene and Ronnie Tucker of Westfield; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy and Frances Hiatt of Walnut Cove, Roger and Shelia Branson of Dobson, Carl and Dodie Branson of Seagrove, and Billy Branson of King; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hiatt was preceded in death by a son, Richard Craig Hiatt; and a brother-in-law, Roger Fulp. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Isreal Gwyn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
