Mr. William Mack Hodges, Sr., 61, of 1450 Spring Meadow Drive, Woodleaf, passed away Wednesday, November 11,2009, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born July 21, 1948, in Surry County, to the late Tobe and Bertha Nichols Hodges. He was a truck driver for Food Lion and was a member of Woodleaf Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Nelda Collins Hodges of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Brownie Brown of Salisbury; a son and daughter-in-law, Mack Hodges, Jr. and Gini of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Zula Goins of Mount Airy and Dianne and Ronald Wood of Lowgap; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Faye Hodges and Jim and Carolyn Hodges, all of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Michael "Mike" Hodges. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Shining Light Baptist Church, with the Rev. Elmo Hiatt and the Rev. Chris Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
