Mr. William "Howard" Hylton, age 75 of Patrick Springs, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on September 15, 1932 to the late George Cabell and Callie Agnes Rakes Hylton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hylton was preceded in death by a sister, Susanna Hylton. He was a member of Mayo Christian Church, and had retired from Stanley Furniture with 34 years of service.
Mr. Hylton is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ramsey Hylton of the home; two step-daughters, Jessica Hope McPherson of Charles City and Charity Elaine McPherson of Patrick Springs; one step-son, Stanley Bruce McPherson of Patrick Springs, one grandchild, Heather Lee McPherson; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee Hylton of Bassett, G.C. and Margaret Hylton of Patrick Springs and Harvey and Imogene Hylton of Martinsville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Gaynelle and Sammy Floyd of Stuart, Estelle and J. R. Rakes of Patrick Springs, Virginia Sheppard of Patrick Springs and Redith and David Shough of Patrick Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Hylton will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Milfred Hudson and Bobby Rorrer officiating. Burial will follow in the Wayside Community Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
