Mr. William Leo “Bill” Anderson, Jr. age 83, of Mount Airy, passed away on Thursday February 27, 2025. He was born in Michigan, August 6, 1941, the son of the late William J. Anderson and the late Wilma Sue Gillespie Anderson. Mr. Anderson started in business as the owner of Modern Shell and Independence Amoco in Mount Airy. He later started and was president of Anderson and Webb Trucking Co., and later WLA Trucking of Mount Airy, NC. He was member of Pilot View Baptist Church. Surviving are his children, Alice Sotti, Susan Anderson, Laura Metts (Steven), and Sallie Needham (Jason); grandchildren, Bailey Reynolds, Taylor Reynolds, Eljah Vernon, Ezra Vernon, Brantley Vernon, Nathan Alderman, Michael Metts; great grandchildren, Conner Alderman and John Metts; sister, Estelle Wilkey; and a special thanks to his caregivers, Wanda Williams (cousin), and Mark Swartz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Nora Ann France Anderson, son, Billy Anderson, grandson, Andrew William Alderman, brother Donnie Anderson, and sister, Helen Williams. A memorial graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Rev. Scotty Bullins and Dr. Billy Blakely officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy is serving the Anderson family.
