A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 62 years, Elaine Hodges Marion of the home; three sons, William Thomas "Tommy" Marion Jr. and his wife, Shannon, Norman Clark Marion, Sr., and Mark Anthony Marion and his wife, Sara, all of Dobson; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Marion was preceded in death by three sisters, Eunice Marion Taylor, Bernice Marion Hamlin, and Ruth Marion Dezern. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church, with Dr. Bobby Lewis and the Rev. Darrell Tate officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 430 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and to Shona Hodges-CNA for the loving and compassionate care extended to Mr. Marion and his family during his illness.
