William Max Mauldin

Mr. William “Max” Mauldin 83, of Mount Airy passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.  He was born in Surry County on March 18, 1937 to the late Roy Franklin and Annie Brintle Mauldin.  Max proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Mr. Mauldin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Patty Surratt Mauldin of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law; Brian and Teresa Mauldin of Mount Airy, Matthew and Kelly Mauldin of Wilmington, and Durke Mauldin of Raleigh; grandchildren, Luke Mauldin, Carrie Ann Mauldin, Meredith Mauldin, William Grant Mauldin, Blake Mauldin, Austin Mauldin, and Alyssa Mauldin; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Allan Jessup, Jennifer and Duane Edwards; step-grandchildren, Niki Talley, Nathan Edwards, Elijah Edwards, Abby Edwards, Jacob Edwards, and Adam Edwards; sister Betty Tilley; brothers, Bob Mauldin, Ben and Sylvia Mauldin, and Arnold Mauldin.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Mauldin was preceded in death by his first wife, Mycleta “Ann'' Moorefield Mauldin, an infant sister, Susan Rebecca Mauldin, a sister, Billie Marie Mauldin Eckenrod, a brother, Rex Mauldin.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM on Saturday January 23rd, 2021 at Moody's Funeral Home in Mount Airy, NC.  Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM at Dover Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev.
