Mr. William Allen Norman, 63, loving husband of Mrs. Susie Whitaker Norman, of Dobson, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday June 11, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County on July 6, 1945 to the late William Ernest and Mary Steelman Norman. Mr. Norman was retired from Chatham Manufacturing and a member of Union Cross Baptist Church. He was a Charter Member of Union Cross Ruitan Club, a Charter Member of Dobson Rescue Squad and a retired Fireman of Central Surry Volunteer Fire Department with 27 years of service where he served as the President of the Board of Directors. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of twenty-three years, Susie Whitaker Norman of the home; two daughters, Tammy Norman Millaway of Jonesville and Melissa Norman Ashford of King; four grandchildren, Andrew Millaway, Derek Millaway, Nathen Culler and Kristen Culler; his "first to be" great-grandchild; a sister, Sue Stanley of Yadkinville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Beth Norman of Elkin and Phillip and Louise Norman of Dobson and a special lifelong friend, Jimmy Griner. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Union Cross Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Tim Burton with burial to follow. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Saturday at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
