William Rudolph Reece

Mr. William Rudolph Reece, age 88, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2006, at Central Continuing Care. Mr. Reece was born in Surry County, March 1, 1918 and raised by his mother, Carrie Thomas Reece and his grandfather Braxton Reece. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II was retired from Hennis Freight Lines and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lettie Fleming Reece of the home; a daughter, Anna Templeton of Greensboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Braxton and Barbara Reece of Mt. Airy; a stepdaughter, Rosilyn "Demi" Thompson of Mt. Airy; a stepson and spouse, Guy and Cookie Fleming of Rahway, NJ; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a step sister, Meritha McCuiston of Edenton, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reece was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Austin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Moody Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Garland Hall. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Central Continuing Care for the love and care given to Mr. Reece during his stay there.
