Mr. William Henry Simmons, 72, formerly of Dobson passed away on Monday January 11, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Surry County on July 8, 1937 to the late Hillery and Mamie Draughn Simmons. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Tim Reeves of Jonesville and a son, Tim Simmons of Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren, Mitchell Reeves and Alysha Simmons; three sisters, Kay and husband Ricky Hall, Barbara and husband Richard Elledge all of Statesville; a brother-in-law, Troy Blevins of Jonesville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wade and Ruby Simmons of King and Alfred and Velda Simmons of Jonesville; a special friend Steve Stanley of Hamptonville; four nieces and nephews, whom he loved as his own, Randy and Sheila Wall, June and George Glass, Sherry and Don Carden and Perry and Audrey Wall; several very special great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by a brother J.T. Simmons; a sister Pauline Blevins and a daughter-in-law Sherri Simmons. His funeral service will be held at 3 pm Thursday January 14, 2010 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Rev. Larry Stone and Bro. Mickey Brooks with burial to follow in Mount Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm and other times at the home of his daughter 5020 Haynes Road Jonesville, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the donor's choice. A special thanks to the staff of Forsyth County Hospice and Palliative Care for their excellent care.
