William Earl Smith

Mr. William "Earl" Smith, 86, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Village Care of King. Mr. Smith was born September 10, 1922, in Surry County, the son of the late Edgar and Carrie Mae Smith. He was of the Quaker faith. He is survived by a sister, Mary S. Pardue of Mount Airy; and five nephews, Edward Fox Lawrence, Jr. and William Brent Lawrence, both of White Plains, Robert Keith Lawrence of Siler City, James Smith Pardue of Jamestown, and T. Richard Pardue, Jr. of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Smith Lawrence; and two brothers, James Claude Smith and Edgar Keith Smith. A graveside service will be held Friday, May 8, 2009, at 3:00 PM at White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert McCrary officiating. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. His body will remain at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy until taken to the cemetery for the service.
