Willie Gertrude Robertson Creed

Mrs. Willie Gertrude Creed, 91, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Creed was born June 27, 1919, in Surry County, daughter of the late David Thomas and Mary Cassie Southern Robertson. She retired from Quality Mills and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Mrs. Creed is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Cockerham of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Lynn Creed of Mount Airy; a daughter-in-law, Betty Creed of Pilot Mountain; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Hayes of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Creed was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Duncan Creed; a son, Herman Creed; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a son-in-law, Maynard Cockerham; three sisters, Ila Wall, Minnie York, and Jettie York; and two brothers, Curt Robertson and Burt Robertson. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Laurel Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 16, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
