Willie Mae Gray Rogers Ray

Mrs. Willie Mae Gray Rogers Ray, age 89 of Stuart, Virginia passed away on January 20, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center.  She was born in Patrick County on February 6, 1929 to the late Willie S. Gray and Lottie Martin Gray.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Rogers and James Spotswood “Spot” Ray; one daughter, Linda Gale Joyce Turner; and three sisters, Ruth Crannell, Mabel Rogers Boaz, and Annie Rogers.   Willie Mae enjoyed reading, crafts, traveling, volunteering for hospice, teaching Sunday school, growing flowers, singing in the choir, and was a women’s missionary union director.  She was a member of Peters Creek Baptist Church; she truly adored her church family and loved the Lord.

        Willie Mae is survived by her children, Judith Lynn Ray (Tim) Morton of Kernersville, North Carolina; Richard Rogers of Stuart; Beverly Rogers (Bill) Morten of Hobe Sound, Florida, Kathy Rogers Perkins (Mike) of Clemmons, North Carolina; grandchildren, Will Morten (fiancé, Jessica), Chase Morten (Mary Chandler), Joe Perkins (Ali), Carrie Conner Dalton, Holly Lewis (Justin); great-grandchildren, Caroline Perkins, Tessa Lewis, Joshua Lewis, A.J. Lewis, Madison Denny; one brother Edward Gray (Rachel) of Lawsonville, North Carolina; special caregiver, Gracie Harris of Martinsville, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

        Funeral services for Willie Mae will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 11:00 am at Peters Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Ragsdale officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at the church from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bibles, P.O.
