Wilma Mae Hylton Hicks

Mrs. Wilma Mae Hylton Hicks, 70, of Newport, NC, and formerly of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern. She was born May 18, 1938, in Floyd County, VA, to the late Ferry Clinton and Elizabeth Odell Andrews Hylton. Mrs. Hicks retired from Cross Creek Apparel and was a member of the Core Creek Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Albert "Red" Hicks of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Wilkinson and Bill Leake of Roanoke, VA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin R. and Melinda Goad of Huntsville, AL, and Glen E. and Melissa Goad of Ringgold, VA; seven grandchildren, Joshua Beisley of Roanoke, VA, Erin Goad, Daniel Goad, Sarah Goad, and Jonathan Goad, all of Huntsville, AL, and Katelyn Goad and Donovan Goad, both of Ringgold, VA; sisters and brothers-in-law, LaMyra and David Haynes of Pilot Mountain and Linda and Leonard Bobbitt of Yadkinville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Avery Clinton and Eva Hylton of Flat Rock, NC, Jack and Darlene Hylton of Willis, VA, Ralph and Joan Hylton of Maryland, John and Belva Hylton and Larry and Renee Hylton, all of Mount Airy, Jerry and Karen Hylton and James Hylton, all of Dobson; a special and dear friend, Glenda Gardner. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by three sisters, Lorraine Coe, Gay Hicks, and Nora Jane Hylton; and three brothers, Joe Wallace Hylton, Jullian Hylton, and Hugh Hylton. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, by the Rev. Dean Eaton. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 18, 2009, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
