Wilma Mae Harvey Sutphin

Our loving mother, Wilma Mae Harvey Sutphin, 92 of Mount Airy, went to be with her Lord and Savior from her home on Tuesday evening, July 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Henderson County, North Carolina on November 19, 1924 to the late Hobert Reginal Harvey and Elsie Edna Osteen Harvey. She was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Renfro Corp. after many years of dedicated service. Ms. Sutphin is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Don Cannoy, and Misty and Danny Collins; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Peggy Martin; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Amanda Lara; several nieces and nephews; and a very special loving niece, Judy Haymore. In addition to her parents, Ms. Sutphin was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Williams; two sons, Dennis Martin, and John McHone, Jr.; her 1st husband, Leroy Martin; her 2nd husband, John McHone, Sr.; and two brothers, Virgil Harvey and Clinton Harvey. Graveside services will be held Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Garden with Rev. Austin Caviness officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Dr., Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202, 1-800-DIABETES or to the donor’s choice. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
