Wilson Monroe Poindexter

Mr. Wilson Monroe Poindexter, age 90, of Dobson, NC, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born on November 8, 1927 to the late James Emmitt Poindexter and the late Nannie Lou Campbell Poindexter. He was a retired farmer and insurance agent, and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, one who was killed in WWII at the age of 21, James Andrew Poindexter, and William “Bill” Poindexter; a sister, Nellie Poindexter Joyce. Surviving are his wife, Carol Scott Poindexter of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Larry Hill of Dobson, Pamela and Freddie Brown of Elkin, Cheryl and Bobby Stanley of Elkin; five grandchildren, Josh and Donna Hill, Laura and Jesse Hudson, Brett and Hannah Stanley, Megan and Dillon Lewis, Caroline Brown; four great-grandchildren, Boone Hudson, Bowen Hudson, Jack Stanley, Jude Stanley; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy Hobson of Boonville, Susie and John Pyles of Dobson; one sister-in-law, Betty Gail Poindexter of Dobson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in the chapel of Fairview Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreighn Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Rev. Dan Merritt will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at Fairview Baptist Church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Poindexter family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
