Winfred Hugh Tilley

Mr. Winfred Hugh Tilley, 83, of 176 Woodcreek Drive, Mount Airy, widower of Kitty Irene Fariss Tilley, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born October 26, 1925, in Surry County, to the late Hugh and Ollie Shaw Tilley. He was retired from Aircraft Armaments in Baltimore, MD, and was a member of the Mount Airy Christian Church. He had served in the United States Army. Surviving are two foster children, Carolyn Blevins of Baltimore, MD, and Linda Overstreet of Madison Heights, VA; a special foster granddaughter and her spouse, Sarah and Oscar Vallejo of Enid, OK; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Brice Milton of King, Betty Louise and Bob Cole of Ararat, VA, and Mary Lee Greenwood of Kernersville; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Marilyn Tilley of Raymond, NH, and Gene and Myrtle Tilley of Barclay, MD. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Tilley was preceded in death by a brother, David Tilley; and a sister, Gertrude Jessup. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 8, 2008, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Brother Wayne Williamson, and burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
