Zelma Waddell

Mrs. Zelma Dowell Waddell, 85, of Cana, passed away at Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center in Galax, Wednesday, June 23, 2021.  She was born in Carroll County, VA, November 20, 1935, to the late Lawrence and Mecy Hall Dowell.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Waddell was preceded by a grandson, Troy Lawrence Gwynn.  Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Audrey Pruitt; her son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Debbie Gwynn; son-in-law L.W. Pruitt; granddaughter Sandie Pruitt Hubbard (Jason); great-grandchildren, D.J., Randi, Jason, Jr., Stephanie, Matthew, great-great grandchildren Easton and Nicholas, and several special cousins.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelly Haynes.  Burial will follow at St. Paul Church of the Brethren in Cana.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
