Mrs. Zula Victoria Sumner Harvey, 83, of 560 Johnson Ridge Road, Elkin, formerly of Mount Airy, widow of Henry Clinton Harvey, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Harvey was born November 28, 1925, in Surry County, daughter of the late Anuel Washington "A.W." Sumner and Susie Anna Vaughn Sumner. She was a devoted Christian, wife, and mother and a friend to all. Mrs. Harvey was a member of Welcome Baptist Church for over 40 years and a member of the Mayberry Mall 300 Mile Mall Walkers Club. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Roy Cleve Haymore of Dobson; a son, Garry Edward Harvey of High Point and special friend, Greg Anderson; five grandchildren and spouses, Michelle Hill and husband, Mike, of Conyers, GA, Brian Harvey of Atlanta, GA, Heather Nowell and husband, Ryan, of Panama City, FL, Jeniffer Wall and husband, Neil, of Boone, and Beth Haymore and husband, Chris Seager, of Greensboro; and six great-grandchildren, Kristin, Bret, Caroline, Sabryna, Jesse and Jermiah. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Harvey was preceded in death by a sister, Ila Mae Sumner Marsh; and a brother, John Woodrow Sumner, Sr. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Welcome Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Bailey Elmore and Rev. Robby Ellison, with burial to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Welcome Baptist Church on Saturday one hour prior to the service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her extended family at Elkin Health Care and the ICU unit at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for their loving care shown to her and family and her special friends, Ruth Shelton, Rosa Branch, and Susan Burcham.
